Why should people Read?

  Why should people Read?

• It helps their memory to remember things
• It helps you get to your standards
• It can open up opportunities for you in the future

I was asked why is reading important so this is my story of why.

I think that reading is important because it can make you smarter, it gives you more entertainment and it can increase your memory because you remember the things that you read. Another reason why people of all ages should read is because when they read their book they get sucked into it and their book might push them to read another.

If I were you I would start reading because a lot of opportunities in your life included reading like being a Policeman or woman,Sports player,lawyer or a teacher. Living without reading could be very difficult because if you build something it could be dangerous because you haven't read the instructions.

Reading is a very important skill because it helps you with your vocabulary and because it plays a gigantic part in our education. These are the reasons why I think why reading is important to us in our lives.

It's Tuesday, Rugby league day!

I know I can do this when I use similies and punctuation correctly in my writing. 

Don’t start without me! On Tuesday I had rugby league practise, like every Tuesday. Our main goal is to work on our fitness. We started by running and passing the ball. Every time someone dropped the ball, we had to do 20 diamonds (‘Diamonds’ is when we have to run the whole field in the shape of a diamond).

I went to the coach and asked “ Why do we all have to do diamonds, why don’t the person who dropped the ball do it ?”

He replied “Because we are all working on our fitness”. Then we started our diamonds and everyone was behind me but I felt left out so I slowed down. After that, we played a game.

On my first try with the ball, I nearly got tackled by the strongest and fastest person on the team. However he missed and someone called out ‘Nek’ minute so I looked and was tackled to the ground. After that tackle, I was so pumped up that when I got the ball, I sprinted as fast as a Cheetah chasing its prey. I sidestepped everyone inbetween me and the goal post and I felt like I was Usain Bolt.

After that we had to do a warm down, we counted up to ten and down again while stretching every muscle on our legs. I was told by my coach that I would be a perfect rugby player and that was the highlight of my day.

My friend's dad's 5th wedding anniversary!

We can’t be late because I am going to my friend's dad’s wedding anniversary. 
After church my family and I stayed late because it was a special celebration.

I ran to my friend, then he told me that we have to go into a room. 
When I went in I saw a group of people getting food and saying that that Joshua and I had to serve them. So we picked up a plate each and started to serve everyone. 
After we served all the people and they left the room, and we went to get our food.

Joshua and I were angry because all the food that we liked was gone so we had very  little to  eat. After eating Joshua and I went to go play outside to verse other people in racing because they thought that they could run faster than us but we won and then I had to go home.

It was the best day of my life because I had a lot of fun with my cousin and I don’t see him that much.

Do You Know About Panmure Cottage?

It has been there for generations Panmure Cottage is one of those thing that have been there since centuries. It is very important to the people of Panmure because very rare things from the centuries are there. The cottage has been there for so long it is now a museum so that people can come see what it was like in the old times.

One room shows how the babies use to sleep and what they used to wear. First the cottage was made next to McDonalds but then got relocated and now with us in Panmure. When they did their washing people put their owning into a

place where you grab the handle then move it forward and back that made your clothes clean. They had saw that you use to cut down a trees,but the saws that they used needs two people.

In one room it showed all the pictures in the fire brigade. In a room there was a candle lair where all the candle go on top. They even have rocks from Mount Wellington volcano. The rocks are called bomb rocks.

It is important that we maintain Panmure Cottage because its a historical site and because its part of Panmure.

Great Wind Powers

Wind is the movement of air that is moving, when wind get out of control it can make a lot of natural disasters. Wind is one way that the whole earth moves excess heat around. Wind can move to lot of places like all around the world.

They cause cyclones, monsoons, trade winds, and hurricanes. Winds are strong,when there is strong wind that means that the wind is moving fast but when it is called light wind that means that the wind is moving slowly.

The wind blowing from the north is called northerly and the wind blowing from the south is called the southerly. Some wind is very important because the help people with raining their plants.

Some winds aren't great because some types of winds cause hurricanes,twisters or a tornado.

Heroes of the heat

Firefights have really special jobs. They protect people. Some Firefight have big trucks that have hoses and ladders so they can climb high.  They have to be really really fast and strong because sometimes they have to have to jump over fences or have to run to the fire house.

They have to practise because they don’t know what will happen to them. They have high optical courses and have to practise their aim for their hose.

Firefighters go around a lot of places trying to find the source of the fires so they can put out the fire.

Firefighters are important because they keep people safe from fire.  

The Forty days of Lent

Lent is a very special time in the year. Lent is when you receive ash on your forehead and it's kind of a sign of remorse.

The beginning of Lent is called Ash wednesday, another meaning of Lent is when you give up something for forty days and forty nights. When Jesus gave up something he suffered for forty days and forty nights in the desert without food. When you go church you can see that the priest wearing purple which mean it a time of Lent.

Lent starts at Ash Wednesday and ends at palm sunday. Lent is also when you give up something that is important to you.We go through this 40 days so that we can be sorry and have a change of heart.

The ashes are made from the palm leaves like the ones then jesus enter Jerusalem. First the palms get burned and afterwards they get turn into Ash.

The Almighty Cops

Who are Police officers?

Police officers are also called cops. Cops are people who are trained by really special people.

Cops have really special jobs.They protect people,some cops have highly rifle guns and tasers and a shield to protect themself. Cops have to be really fit like muscles and abs because sometime they have to  have to jump over fences and have to outrun dogs.

Cops go around a lot of places trying to find the criminals so they go jail.Criminals are people who like doing bad stuff,they love to kill,steal or run away from police officers.

Police officer are useful because they take criminals away and put them in  jail.

My Exciting Maori Mihi Presentation

In room 5 We are learning how to introduce our self's in Maori. We all created a presentation and put Maori words and English word's. This is my presentation.

Synonyms Wheel

In room 5 We are learning to to make a Synonym Wheel. A Synonym wheel changes boring words into interesting words. I know I can use ambitious vocabulary in my writing when I use words like actually and positively instead of really.
