Sir Edmund Hillary

In reading this article I have been learning to combine close  reading and inference
skills to analyse text to learn more about the qualities of people known as heroes or leaders.

Sir Edmund Hillary was a man with determination and was most definitely a high achiever. As you should already know he was the first person to ever reach the top of Mount Everest with his companion Tenzing Norgay. Edmund Hillary has his face on the New zealand 5 dollar note and was knighted by the Queen for his bravery and achievement.

He was an advocate for the people including the children of Nepal. This was shown when he spoke out to inform and encourage people around the world to help financially to build  schools,  hospitals, clinics, an airfield and bridges, to improve the standard of living for the people.  He founded the Himalayan Trust which became a charity foundation to help support the needs of the people.  He can be described as an  inspiration.

He believed in helping those in need. He used his fame to get financial support for the needs he had seen for the people of Nepal. He believed his idea of: creating the Himalayan Trust would last a long time and would continue on helping people in the near and far future.

Although famous worldwide, he remained a humble man, who encouraged others to reach out and help when and where they could.

A New Year A New Start

Hello, I'm Isaac. This year is going to be the hardest year that I am going to face
because I'm a year 8 and being the oldest year in the school means we have to
lead the younger generation. Having this be the last year of us being in this school
every-one will expect us to do good like our teachers, fellow students and the colleges
that were thinking of going to next year.So this year I'm going to be the best person that I
can be and leave this school as a role model to the generation to come.
