Take another look at the persuasive piece of reading/ writing.
What strategies does the author use to try to persuade you?
Below are strategies writers often use for this form of writing.  Read through each
strategy and decide whether the author used that strategy by writing yes or no in the second column. If you write yes, then explain how the author used that strategy.
Persuasive strategy
Yes / No

important people to support the argument

No

Logos – Uses logic, numbers, or
facts to support the argument

The girl says that “ She's scared of going in the water because there's chemicals and it’s causing the fish to be fill of cancer. This shows that she has found out information about what’s been happening in the world.
Pathos – Appeals to the audience’s emotions
Yes
She said that “we are all children of someone and I am fighting for my generation and other generation to come”.  She makes the audience realise that if nothing changes there will be nothing left for future generations.
Ethos – Tries to build trust and
credibility

Yes
To make her argument credible, she includes logos i.e. facts that relate to her generation and changes that she has experienced  in her life-time. She brings information like the fact that forests are being destroyed“ Can you bring back a forest that is now a dessert?”
Kairos – Builds a sense of urgency
for the cause

Yes
She makes a powerful statement, “ If you cant fix it don’t break it” This statments reinforces her argument and probably makes makes the adults at the UN Conferences think about what they can do to improve the solution.
Research – Uses studies and
information to make the
argument seem more convincing;
this can be in the form of words,
